More Encouraging Thoughts About Pursuing our Dreams

Last week I wrote about Dr. Kristen McClure, a successful woman business owner. When I mentioned to her that I had received a good bit of grateful feedback, she mentioned that she had continued to think about what enabled her to pursue her own chiropractic practice, so she could focus on the Atlas vertebrae, which is so key to our spine and our balance and movement. She shared her additional thoughts, as follow:

“I had put serious thought to my journey in becoming a chiropractor and starting my own practice within my father’s practice. I honestly cannot come up with any obstacles that I needed to overcome.

Just as everyone has their own doubts about themselves, I really worked on not letting those thoughts overcome my ultimate goal of becoming a chiropractor.

In the beginning I was very selective in whom I told of my plans to change careers. I didn’t want to deal with negative people. I only shared it with my family and a few select friends. I listened to, and still do, a lot of Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer and Zig Ziglar on my daily runs.

Very importantly, I was constantly seeking out relevant scripture passages and I was encouraging myself. I would write out my goals/wishes and put them in my bible as my way of “giving it to God.”

I have been very blessed with a wonderful family and husband. I was always encouraged as a kid to pursue any interest. Some of my interests just were not feasible at the time, and my parents just redirected me to something that fit our budget/schedule.

I’ve never had anyone close to me tell me that I couldn’t accomplish something.

Hopefully, these thoughts, which continue to help me, will be encouraging to women and men in pursuing their dreams and passions.”
