A Great Organizational Culture Means Success for Our People and Improved Financial Results

I made a mistake last week in my paper about what companies should tell their employees and didn’t realize my blunder until it was posted. Simply put, I included way too much information.

I guess I got caught up in my writing, as all the information is important and everything I wrote makes a difference with our employees and for our companies.  However, less is more! Too much information can water down the impact I intended, so this week I am going to better target my message.

Organizational culture

A winning organizational culture can be characterized by: high energy; our people dedicated to the success of our organization; as well as the power of a team collaborating, encouraging one another, brainstorming together, helping one another do our best work, and a feeling that the competition is the firms we compete against, not our colleagues.

Achieving this kind of organizational culture takes discipline, as we are all crazy busy with work due to today’s downsized companies and the demands of the financial goals we face, and, of course, the time required by the endless flow of information coming at us on the internet.

Here is our simple path to establishing and maintaining a winning culture. Let our team members know:

  • They are valued
  • Their ideas matter
  • We genuinely care about them
  • We want to help them succeed and achieve their goals for their business lives

I firmly believe that CONVERSATIONS are the key, that the best way to create a winning culture is for executives to take the time to get out of their offices and have conversations with people. They should ask questions, and be quiet and listen to learn, and ask how we may help.

The power of a team is awesome. Let’s do our team, our company and ourselves a favor; let’s be intentional in our work towards a winning organizational culture.
